Latvia will introduce a strict closure on Thursday, October 21 due to the deteriorating epidemiological situation.
The relevant decision was made by the Latvian Crisis Management Council. The lock will last until November 15th. During this period, the country will have a curfew from 20:00 to 5:00 for all citizens, regardless of whether or not they have been vaccinated against coronavirus. Only those stores and establishments that provide the necessary goods and services will continue to operate. In addition, any public event will be prohibited. And all schools, except grades 1-3, will move to distance learning.
In early October, the Latvian State Operative Medical Commission declared a state of emergency in the Republic due to the coronavirus. The head of the health ministry, Pavlutz, said there was a critical shortage of medical staff in hospitals. He noted that the country’s government is considering the possibility of requesting international assistance for the treatment of patients.
